ETS2 is awesome. It was fantastic watching my roommate try to play because he didn't understand a manual transmission.  I'm just poor ._. And I'd be more familiar with American landmarks and cities.

Most likely. The same as 18 Wheels of Steel Haulin (or whatever its called).
Maybe someone will make a mod that extends it north to Canda and south to mexico etc. :)

Would be fun though. I suppose this game is confirmed in development now, i dont doubt that someone will make a Canade/Mexico/South American mod.

By the way, how do you get across the Panama canal? I didnt think it was possible by car.

On my old Mod-Team we were plaining to extend the 18 WoS ALH (American Long Haul) to north america, since we did a map with all south america countries. But the game gives some limits to expand the map, and when you pass these limits, the truck start to run like in an offroad track...but making impossible to you control it. So, I hope SCS let us go more away, and with this simulator, which surely will be in USA, let us go far away with new maps, like to north of Canada, and South America aswell, would be great, you take a mission here, on Brazil, and unload it in USA, or Canada.
But I'm thinking in 2 things about this game, first, is the double trailers, last game with them was 18 WoS ALH...and I really miss them, would be great if SCS put them on this ATS (American Truck Simulator). The second is about it:
I mean, we will be able to open hood, doors, and maybe leave of truck to buy things in Shops and Truckstops? Or just another feature with make no sense (like those bus stations recently added at ETS 2, in all cities)?!

Yeah, it was cool idea, i think, better one that is ETS when u take jobs every time with other trailer. Or mayby ability to chose if u want to have ur own trailer and deliever stuff with them or just truck and take jobs from other companies.

Looks brilliant, the scenery and the graphical beauty of it. SCS have done themselves proud, to go from simulations such as Bus Driver and creating screensavers they've entertained and succeeded in producing hugely popular and a brilliant simulation environment for people to not only enjoy as intended, but also actively assist in allowing modifications.

QuoteThe complete American Truck Simulator will feature the entire continent and "100+" cities for you to truck on over to.
So I think that will be Mexico,USA+Alaska & Canada.

There's always mods. I got a Volvo VNL 780 mod with some reefers, dry vans, and containers. The typical ones you see on the streets in the US.

Well yeah cause the streets of Europe are much smaller than ones in the US. But I dont think I've seen a poorly made mod yet. Some just dont work well with others though, I have trouble getting my Freightliner Century Class mod to work with the Volvo. The Freightliner for some odd reason spawns in the wall when I work with it. I'm guessing that's what you mean by "poorly made" lol.

Weight Stations: New feature in American Truck Simulator

We are always delighted when we can share the features that we work on with our community,
and today we would like to give you a quick look at one of the core
game functionalities in American Truck Simulator: Weight Stations.
(http://[url=http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hNPDJpFsg24/VJL6AdKa0II/AAAAAAAABbI/SRz5cV0oy9M/s1600/ats_weight_station_004.jpg%5Dhttp://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hNPDJpFsg24/VJL6AdKa0II/AAAAAAAABbI/SRz5cV0oy9M/s1600/ats_weight_station_004.jpg%5B/url%5D)
Drivers cruising across American highways might occasionally be  required to visit a weight alongside of the road to verify if their load complies with regulations. These weight terminals are concentrated along the highways and can be easily accessed by drivers at any time. Please note that Weighting Stations will be exclusive to American Truck Simulator and will not appear in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

ATS planned to be released 03/02/2016

QuoteAt last, we are ready to commit to an official release date of the first edition of American Truck Simulator; the game will hit digital and retail stores on February 3, 2016.

As the readers of our blog will no doubt know by now, this release will be just the first step on the road. A couple of trucks and the state of California that we are bringing you with the base game release is only a fraction of our grand vision - to cover all of North America eventually and to chase every relevant truck manufacturer for a license to allow us to include their trucks into the game.

Well, we have to set on the way, and this is where we start. Hold on tight!

http://blog.scssoft.com/2016/01/american-truck-simulator-map-dlc.html

It's time to respond to the avalanche of questions coming our way concerning our plans for the initial edition of American Truck Simulator and its post-release future.

The day one release will contain the state of California. That was always the plan.

We are happy to confirm that on February 3rd, we will also have the state of Nevada fully ready for release. We were still not sure about Nevada's finish-line when the game box packaging design was being finalized, so the boxes sitting on retail shelves will put the spotlight on California, but there is actually more coming your way right out of the gate. In short, DLC Nevada will be a free game update for everyone, no matter where or when you will have bought the game, available immediately on official release date.

It is also public knowledge by now that we are hard at work on the state of Arizona. On the packaging of the retail box, there is actually an explicit statement that DLC Arizona will unlock for owners of this game edition when it's eventually finished. We are delighted to confirm that Arizona DLC will also be a free game update for everybody. You will just have to wait for it a little bit longer, this part of the world is still under development.

You do not really have to worry about the particular channel where to purchase the game, whether it's on Steam, in any other digital store, or in a bricks-and-mortar shop, the playable content will be the same for everybody.

Actually, we should also mention that next to this base release, several retail publishers have decided to also offer a richer (and more expensive) edition of the game on release, calling it Collector's Edition. These bigger cardboard boxes are surely nicer, they contain a cool selection of additional merchandise items, so it would be for example a very cool birthday gift with extra value. But when it comes to the game itself, the installation media is the same, and the same set of DLCs will be unlocked for those buying this special edition of the game as will for people with the regular edition of the game.

Recommended price of the game is going to be $20/€20, though it is to be expected that for alternate currencies, some local market specifics and the need to display a nice round figure may cause slight variations.

We surely do not plan to stop working on American Truck Simulator world with Arizona. However, please be aware that the road ahead of us is long, and it will take us years to cover the continent. We will continue to add features to the game with regular free updates, but most further map expansion DLCs, if not all, will be paid. We have had to pick a business model allowing us to build more than ten times the amount of content compared to what we are launching with.  If you are looking forward to drive coast to coast, you will not be able to do that now, and it will cost you more eventually than the price of the initial purchase.

It would be great to get the chance to reach the East Coast, it would be fabulous to be able to push north towards at least 60 degs latitude and south towards the Equatorial. But ultimately, it is up to you, our fans, if this happen - you will vote with your wallets. We expect to get the right guidance from you on future growth of our team to handle the new opportunities and challenges.

Thank you for your patience and support!

California and Nevada ship with ATS. Arizona is free DLC. More states will be made available as paid DLC later on. They want to make as much DLC as possible but they won't keep making it if no one buys it.

Probably because The United States is much larger than Europe? The continental US is nearly 3 times larger than ETS2 with the two map DLC (Going East and Scandinavia). It's going to take them a long time to complete the entire US and then Canada and Mexico.

This.

I will also point out, you're paying half as much as a newly-released AAA (triple A) title, to a company that is smaller and is very likely to have less financial backing compared to Activision/EA/Take-Two/Ubisoft. They probably need the additional money from DLC to sustain development for not just only game updates, but future DLC and their future interests.

Game development isn't easy guys.

Stop complaining about DLC costing money. Even if you spend $40 on DLC it's still the same price as a brand new AAA game.

Sadly it will turn into a money farming bitch just like Microsoft Flight Simulator or Train simulator where each new track, train, plane, airport costs as much as the game itself or more, how many states does US have? 50 states? and considering each one of them could be over 10 dollars, or $18,99 just like last DLC (Scandinavia) the game would be over 900 dollars, have fun paying that.

 :cereal:
Title: Re: American Truck Simulator
Post by: Hobo on January 18, 2016, 20:57
They'd release state DLC in packs like they did with Going East and Scandinavia for ETS2. They only need to do 1/3 of the country for it to be the same size as ETS2 with all the current map DLC.
SCS hasn't charged for adding trucks and there's mods for them anyway.
Title: Re: American Truck Simulator
Post by: Matias on January 18, 2016, 21:05
I am not against the DLC thingy, but i hate when companies abuses it, making a DLC about each little thing and charging for it, if they could only release multiple states in a single dlc it would be awesome. Abusing each state to farm money will get many negative votes just like FSX did and TS both now owned by Dovetail.
An example: to get TS with all the DLC's it would cost $4261 and FSX $984, that's an abuse
Title: Re: American Truck Simulator
Post by: Dobby on January 18, 2016, 21:23
Those are optional purchases that don't affect your core gameplay. Besides loosing out on a train / plane model.

A bad DLC practice example would be Mass Effect 3. There's DLC called "From Ashes". That's included on disk from day 1 (essentially day 1 DLC). You can gain access to this DLC via save game editing (K9 Dog, and N7 jacket can be obtained the same way. I've done it!).

Resident Evil 6 also apparently has on disk DLC. Hidden behind a paywall.

TL;DR DLC that doesn't affect gameplay/achievements is fine. Ones that are behind a paywall from Day 1 are bad.

Would most likely be the same, considering it's the same engine, just retextured.
It's exactly the same requirements.

$20 is what i would pay for this.. the graphic may be the same but the actual way of playing is diferent then ETS2. I'll buy it next week, can't wait to drive in the lovely US.

This is like saying that TM is the same as CT, because the point of the game is driving somewhere, attach the load and drive to the unload, and there is little difference besides the overall look of the server?

It is. I didn't say it wasn't.

If i'm paying for something, i expect it to be pretty damn good. ATS is just a reskin of ETS2 (distances seem abnormally short between load & unload too!) and isn't worth my money. I don't see how you can all waste your money on it tbh. Sure, if it had more to offer on release besides shitty DLC id probably buy it on a sale, or from G2A. I'm not wasting my time on games that hide shit behind paywalls (don't say it hasnt hidden anything major, because it has. its entire cities. When they arrive that is)

But each to their own and all that jazz. Hope you're enjoying your waste of money.

this is best review for ats

I'll be brief: compared to ETS2, this game has the following new features AT RELEASE:

- New map of two US states: California and Nevada.
- Police cars drive around and serve as mobile speed traps. No more careless speeding between speed traps.
- Two new American trucks. Two is also the total number of trucks you can drive in the game at release. Read it: 2. TWO.
- New traffic models, replacing European cars with American ones.
- Some minor parking tweaks.
- It has helicopters, blimps and crop dusters flying around. Crop dusters are cool.
- It has weigh-in stations, which are basically the same annoying toll booths, but you don't pay.

That's it. That's the exhaustive list of innovations. ATS has the same interface, the same progression, the same skill system, the same loan system, the same messages, the same tutorial, the same graphics (it doesn't look better than ETS2 at all), even THE SAME MENU MUSIC. Everything is the same. Except it's in America, and with fewer trucks.

This is a very well done, very pretty, and very expensive (all things considered) OFFICIAL MOD for Euro Truck Simulator 2.

Get it if you're okay with more of the same in new, less diverse environment. Otherwise, stay away. At least, for now. SCS will probably (read: definitely) add more trucks and areas eventually, but I seriously doubt the experience will be much different.

and good luck with DLC http://prntscr.com/9yhvxn

ETS2 you could hire driver to your trucks, and if that hired driver meet you on road, you wont see your own truck, just bot truck. And i believe they were going to fix it with update so, is it fixed?

yes, it's simple easy, for trucks people has just to change some few lines because there's different brands in ATS, but the truck won't look so good because ATS uses different material, I mean chrome parts will look dark or paint will look fucked up, but mods like sounds, datas from ETS 2 works fine in ATS

QuoteTo make sure that we don't have to make compromises down the line, stuck forever with a guarantee to support a build of the game with 32-bit limitations, we have decided to officially only support 64-bit Windows/Linux/Mac.

But on Youtube I've seen a few videos where people apparently play it as 32-bit, although all of the videos are people complaining about bugs or asking how to fix bugs "after cracking to 32-bit"
Link plox?

Any way to run it on 32 Bit Windows and no I cant install 64 bit because my processor doesnt support it.
There is a pirated version that supports 32bit
^^^

Also, to people who were complaining about fish's videos, its not at all mendetory for you to watch the video. If you can't watch it or bear watching it then just don't. And stop posting here ._. Like seriously?

if u dont like what i said dont complain here (report me)  like seriously if he cant take a critic that video is shit than better dont post videos like taht because ppl will tell him taht video quality is shit and 100% taht u didnt watched that video not even 2 minutes and dont lie pls

I don't know what's more disturbing, a 240p video or someone who quotes 70 replies...

ON: here's my rig in ATS (#PROgraphics4PROplayersWITHproPC)
I do like the game but it's a disgrace for 2016...not to mention the fact that they came up with this in 3 YEARS!!!!!!!

I don't consider it as a disgrace for 2016, SCS probably didn't had enough budget to create a new engine, and also they decided to keep the same engine as ETS 2 for mods compatibility and they can work in both games at the same time, yes they do little steps if you think all what they do are on scs blog....

It's fun for a while, but underdeveloped right now. SCS made a game that's not even close to being a complete version, and they're selling it as one. And to top it all off, most of, if not all, the expansions are gonna be paid DLCs instead of nice updates.
They're also too slow in development on it, as if they've forgotten about it. Don't expect too much when you buy it. Euro Truck is much better.

exactly what I was thinking....  when r we going to get the rest of USA, and not little updates because ETS2 gets updated... I understand that theyre pretty much copycats of each other. theyre two separate games, update one and not the other since its newer..
Title: Re: American Truck Simulator
Post by: Benny on May 21, 2017, 21:37
Making new maps is not that easy and it doesn't go that fast guys... you can see that New Mexico is next and you also probably saw that they are making each state special so not everything is the same. And yes some maps will be paid DLC's but im sure they wont be as expensive as Ets's maps.
Title: Re: American Truck Simulator
Post by: Ethan on May 22, 2017, 20:06
I completely agree that state maps are not easy but at least they should focus more on them rather than something else was point.

SCS is releasing 1 state (MAYBE 2, but that would be a miracle) per year, USA alone has 50 states, you do the math.

Meanwhile, I got back to skinning

There are some pretty sick mods available to replace the triples, longer trailers and whatnot, undrivable in the towns because of retarded AI but a fun challenge nonetheless

Someone was trespassing to take photos of my rig while I was inside doing paperwork. What a scoundrel.

Why does your truck looks so smooth? I'm on ultra @ 300 scaling but it doesn't look like this.

Except Photoshop (brightness, contrast, curves, motion blur etc), for sharpness I enabled the HQ screenshots feature. Go to your config file in ETS My Docs folder and edit this values:
uset g_hq_3d_scale "3.0"
uset g_hq_3d_screenshot "1"

It will basically save your screenshot in a resolution that's 3 times bigger than your native one. Take the screenshots with F10 (depending on your system, the game will freeze for some seconds). Don't worry about the UI in the photomanager, it won't appear in your HQ screenshot.

I also bought the heavy cargo pack recently, turns out my truck wasn't powerful enough to pull the trailer, wheels kept on slipping on start but did the job anyway  :like:
