If you can make the attached light objects not be glitchy, like staying behind in the air, then it's welcome addition. Blinking headlights don't make sense.

It is a fair assessment that most most people wouldn't you the blinkers... because they race and crash into a cliff face and launch up it, etc. Perhaps the blinkers could be used to signal directions while leading a peaceful non-racing convoy, and not losing control by entering chat.

The commands can be textual, and called with a keybinder such as AutoHotKey without an internal SA key. The Insert/PageDown block is already occupied with aiming the gun/camera and scrolling the chat though. I'd use the square bracket [] keys. The Look keys I have set on middle mouse and right mouse.

People actually use their turning signals?
Even with this system's current drawbacks (still not that bad I liked the idea), some do. however i believe my suggestion will encourage more players to use them

Doubt it. I'm sure people have suggested this before, as well as suggesting being able to disable it all together

If I remember correct, we are already using most of the SAMP player keys (http://wiki.sa-mp.com/wiki/Keys) which makes it difficult to add.
The key mapping I specified is just an intermidiate suggestion. The main point is use amber glowing object because toggling headlight makes it impractical for regular use. No major problem with using the same old Q, E and both for left, right and hazard blinkers respectively, just a small distraction for the player

Q: What do I want to suggest?
A: An idea for improving turn signals. We could use amber glowing objects attatched to the truck to indicate turn direction, and another button mapped to enable/disable both at once, to be used as hazard warning. SA:MP object id:19294

Q: How is it better than in-game system?
A:

  • The person behind can see our blinker
  • Headlight need not be on
  • Hazard lights can be kept on during fog, night time (anytime there's low visibility), and be used by tow-trucks
  • Less annoyance as camera does'nt turn while using the signals
  • If controls are user-mappable, those who use arrow keys can use following config: "Delete-Left, End-Hazard, Page down- Right". WASD users may suggest what they like as I use arrow keys

Q: Any ideas on how you expect this to work?
A: Use a variable to store 4 possible values: left, right, both, none. Then the left side can blink if the variable is either left or both and right can blink if right or both. The keys side can be like: on pressing the key for left blinker, check value of the variable. If set to left, set it to none else set it to left. Same for other two keys

Q: I think it sounds good. Anything else?
A:

  • If it lags, one small fix would be check if trailer attatched and remove rear blinkers of the truck.
  • Set variable to none on player exiting the vehicle
  • Merge with a previous suggestion which had the idea of showing >> above player and/or current auto-off system
